Featured Article: Morgarath
Morgarath serves as the main antagonist in the first two books. A strange man, he seems to favor the aid of creatures, instead of man.
Biography
Baron of Gorlan
Hungry for power, Morgarath, once the Baron of Gorlan, planned revenge and total takeover of the Kingdom of Araluen. So he went in search for the legendary and desolate tribe known as the Wargals.
Months later, scouring the Mountains of Rain and Night, he had finally found them. He noticed that they were simple minded and easily manipulated creatures, had weak intellect, and no spoken language. So he used their mind against them. Bending them to his will, the Wargals did everything he asked: this included building him a castle.
Secretly training the Wargals in the mountains, he awaited the death of the sick and dieing King of Araluen.
Rebellion
After the king died, and all of the barons traveled to Castle Araluen for the funeral, he set his army forth, obliterating and easily conquering the leaderless Fiefs. The new king, King Duncan, didn't have a chance.
However, the old king's supreme commander, Lord Northolt, created a confederacy of some of the younger barons. Defending King Duncan and Araluen, he marched the remaining troops forward, meeting Morgarath's army at Hackham Heath.
For five hours the armies fought one another, hacking eachother to pieces. Morgarath had the upper hand, protected by the Slipsunder River. But, to Morgarath's disgust, that was not enough.
One of the cloaked men, known as a Ranger, led a force of cavalry through a secret ford. The cavalry slammed into the Wargals flank.
The Wargals, trained in the high mountains and unused to the flat plains, feared one thing. Horses. So they fled. Running back through Three Step Pass, and eventually the Mountains of Rain and Night.
The Past 15 Years
Shunned and driven back into the Mountains of Rain and Night, Morgarath waited, making secret alliances and awakening terribly powerful beings. Settled in his domain, he waited, training his band of Wargals. For now was the time to strike. For now, was the time to take back what was rightfully his.
